Barrie police respond to one person barricaded inside vehicle after shot fired

Officers arrived on scene at around 1:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a disturbance at a vacant home.

Police say one person was shot and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Barrie police are investigating after one person was shot and another barricaded themselves inside a vehicle following a disturbance at a vacant home on Friday afternoon.

Officers were called to the scene on Anne Street North at around 1:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a disturbance. When they arrived, they found one person suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say another person was taken into custody at the scene.

A heavy police presence remained in the area for several hours as officers investigated the incident. Anne Street North was closed between Tiffin Street and Bayview Drive while police investigated.

Police say they are not releasing any further information at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
