The Blue Light on Duty for Hours
The blue light was almost continuously on duty in Wipperfürth on Tuesday. The reason for this was the wintry weather. Streets in the area of Wipperfürth were glazed. Accidents happened. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.
A car ended up on its roof on the L350 between Dohrgaul and Jörgensmühle. The driver from Kürten was driving in the direction of Dohrgaul on Tuesday morning when he lost control of his vehicle on the icy road, skidded and ended up on the roof.
The man was able to free himself from the vehicle and call for help. Emergency services from Wipperfürth and Kürten as well as the fire brigade from Kürten were on duty. According to the police, the man only suffered minor injuries and escaped with a shock.
Another car ended up on the roof on Bundesstrasse 237 between Unterwipper and Klaswipper. According to the police, the car driver was driving from Klaswipper in the direction of Unterwipper on Tuesday morning when she lost control of her vehicle on the icy surface. She skidded and ended up on the roof.
The injured woman managed to get out of the vehicle herself and call for help. Emergency services from Wipperfürth and Engelskirchen as well as the fire brigade from Wipperfürth were on duty. The woman had to be taken to hospital with serious injuries.
After the icy roads, the police called on all motorists to drive carefully. Winter tires are compulsory in winter conditions and driving style should be adapted to the current weather conditions. If possible, journeys should be postponed until the weather has improved.
