U1 after fire divided for several days - and even in summer, the Vienna public transport will face closures

Fire in the Schwedenplatz tunnel

After a fire broke out in the Schwedenplatz tunnel on Monday evening, the U1 line had to be divided for several days. The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire quickly, but the damage to the infrastructure was considerable.

Replacement buses for U1

For the time being, replacement buses will run between Schwedenplatz and Praterstern. The Wiener Linien expect the U1 line to be fully operational again by the end of the week.

Summer closures on the Vienna public transport system

Even in summer, the Vienna public transport system will face closures. From July 15th to August 26th, the U2 line will be closed between Schottentor and Karlsplatz due to renovation work. Replacement buses will also run on this section.

U6 closure in August

In addition, the U6 line will be closed between Floridsdorf and Handelskai from August 5th to 28th. Here, too, replacement buses will be used.
