Thomas Tuchel announced as new England manager
Tuchel takes over from Gareth Southgate
Thomas Tuchel has been announced as the new manager of the England national football team, replacing Gareth Southgate.
The German coach has signed a four-year contract with the Football Association (FA) and will take charge of the team immediately.
Tuchel's credentials
Tuchel is one of the most highly-rated coaches in world football, having won the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea in 2021.
He also led Paris Saint-Germain to the Ligue 1 title in 2020 and 2021.
Southgate's legacy
Southgate leaves the England team after six years in charge.
He led the team to the semi-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the final of the 2020 UEFA European Championship.
England's future
Tuchel will be tasked with leading England to success at the 2024 UEFA European Championship and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He will also be looking to develop a new generation of England players.
