Stamkos scores twice on power play, Predators defeat Canucks
Tampa Bay wins sixth straight
Steven Stamkos scored twice on the power play and the Nashville Predators beat the Vancouver Canucks 5-2 on Tuesday night for their sixth straight win.
Filip Forsberg, Roman Josi and Eeli Tolvanen also scored for Nashville, which improved to 7-1-0 at home this season.
Elias Pettersson and Conor Garland scored for Vancouver, which has lost four of its last five.
Stamkos gave the Predators a 1-0 lead at 11:56 of the first period when he one-timed a pass from Forsberg past Thatcher Demko.
Forsberg made it 2-0 at 16:54 of the first with a power-play goal, his sixth of the season.
Pettersson cut the lead to 2-1 at 1:28 of the second period with a power-play goal of his own, his seventh of the season.
Josi restored Nashville's two-goal lead at 12:39 of the second with a power-play goal, his fourth of the season.
Stamkos made it 4-1 at 16:24 of the second with his second power-play goal of the game, his eighth of the season.
Garland cut the lead to 4-2 at 1:09 of the third period with a power-play goal, his fourth of the season.
Tolvanen scored an empty-net goal with 2:05 remaining to seal the win.
Juuse Saros made 29 saves for the Predators, while Demko made 34 saves for the Canucks.
The Predators will host the New York Islanders on Thursday night, while the Canucks will host the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night.
