POL-PPKO: First report - Full fire of a company hall in Neuwied Heimbach-Weis

Fire brigade, rescue service and police are currently deployed with a large contingent in Heimbach-Weis, a district of Neuwied, in a company building on the street "Auf dem Acker".

According to the current status, a fire broke out in the hall of a recycling company for plastic waste. The fire brigade is currently extinguishing the fire with a large contingent of around 150 emergency services from the Neuwied district and the surrounding area.

The extinguishing work is made more difficult by the fact that the hall is filled with a large number of tightly packed bales of plastic waste, which has to be laboriously cleared away in order to get to the actual fire source. The smoke development is enormous and can be seen for miles around.

Currently, no information can be given on the cause of the fire. The police have started the investigation.

The extent of the damage caused by the fire is not yet foreseeable. According to the police, the fire brigade has the fire under control.

No injuries have been reported so far.

The road "Auf dem Acker" was closed by the police for the extinguishing work.

The Neuwied fire brigade reports that the fire has been extinguished. The extinguishing work was made more difficult by the large amount of smoke and the tightly packed bales of plastic waste. The Neuwied fire brigade was supported by the fire brigades from the surrounding area of VG Unkel, VG Linz, VG Rengsdorf and the city of Andernach.

The fire brigade is still on site with a large contingent to prevent the fire from flaring up again.

The extent of the damage is still unclear.
