Chemnitz - Olympic champions Aljona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy will once again lace up their skates together. The duo will perform at the "Magic of Ice" show in the Chemnitz Arena on May 13th and 14th, 2023.
The show is not only a reunion of the two exceptional figure skaters but also marks the return of Savchenko to competitive skating. The 38-year-old, who officially ended her career in 2018, will be competing in the ISU Grand Prix next season, aiming to qualify for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
For Szolkowy, the show in Chemnitz is a special kind of homecoming. The 42-year-old was born in the city and began his skating career at the Chemnitz SC.
"It's always something special to skate in my hometown," says Szolkowy. "The audience here is fantastic, and it's a great feeling to be able to perform for them again."
The "Magic of Ice" show will feature a variety of figure skating performances, from classical ballet to modern dance. In addition to Savchenko and Szolkowy, other top skaters will also be performing, including current world champion Shoma Uno and Olympic medalist Evgenia Medvedeva.
