Nations League: Turkey misses promotion, Wales celebrates

In Group B of League A in the Nations League, Wales secured promotion to League A and Turkey has to stay in League B. In Cardiff, Wales celebrated a 1-0 home win over Ukraine with a goal from Dan James. Thanks to this, the Welsh are promoted to League A again after relegation in 2020. The game between Turkey and the Faroe Islands ended with the same result: 1-0 for the Turks. Serdar Dursun scored the winning goal for Şenol Güneş's team. However, this was not enough to move up to Group A. Ukraine finished third, ahead of the Faroe Islands, who remain in League C.

Grealish sends England to Nations League finals

England also secured their place in the Nations League finals on Monday. In Group A3 of League A, the Three Lions beat Italy 1-0 in Milan. Giacomo Raspadori missed a penalty for the hosts in the 63rd minute. In the 86th minute, Jack Grealish scored the winning goal for the guests. The Three Lions will now face Spain, Croatia and the Netherlands in the final tournament in June 2023.

Germany relegated to League B

Germany, on the other hand, was unable to avoid relegation to League B. In Group A3 of League A, Hansi Flick's team lost 1-0 to Hungary in Leipzig. The Hungarian winning goal was scored by Zsolt Nagy in the 66th minute. Germany thus finished third in the group behind Hungary and Italy and must now compete in League B in the next Nations League season.

Denmark wins Nations League Group 1

In Group A1 of League A, Denmark secured the group victory. The Danes drew 0-0 with Croatia in Copenhagen. This was enough for the victory in the group. Croatia finished second and avoided relegation to League B. Austria, on the other hand, was relegated to League B after a 3-1 defeat in France.

Portugal wins Nations League Group 2

In Group A2 of League A, Portugal secured the group victory. The Portuguese drew 0-0 with Spain in Braga. This was enough for the victory in the group. Spain finished second and avoided relegation to League B. In the other group match, the Czech Republic celebrated a 2-0 home win over Switzerland.
