Gun Call Prompts Heavy Police Presence on Bayfield St.

Barrie police responded to a report of shots fired in the city’s south end on Saturday evening.
Officers were called to the area of Bayfield Street and Yonge Street at around 6:30 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting the sound of gunshots.
When officers arrived on scene, they found evidence of a shooting, including shell casings. They also spoke to several witnesses who reported hearing gunshots.
Police say there were no reports of any injuries.
The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
The incident prompted a heavy police presence in the area, with several officers and cruisers on scene for several hours.
Police cordoned off a section of Bayfield Street between Yonge Street and Grove Street East while they investigated.
The road was reopened to traffic at around 10:30 p.m.
Police say there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
This is the second shooting incident in Barrie in the past week.
On Monday, a man was shot and killed in the city’s north end.
Police say the two incidents are not believed to be connected.
