Ed Sheeran rejects Band Aid 40
One very famous singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran will not be a part of Band Aid 40, a new version of the charity single "Do They Know It's Christmas?".
Ed Sheeran was allegedly asked to join the charity endeavor following the success of the Band Aid 30 version, which was released in 2014. However, a source has claimed that the singer declined the offer and will not be contributing to the recording. It is unclear why Sheeran turned down the opportunity to participate in the project.
Formed in 1984 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure, Band Aid was created to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia. The collective released the single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" which featured an all-star lineup of British and Irish musicians, including Bono, Sting, Paul McCartney, and David Bowie.
The song became a massive global hit, and its success inspired other charity singles, such as "We Are the World" and "USA for Africa." Band Aid has since released several more singles, with the most recent being "Do They Know It's Christmas?" in 2014.
It is not known who will be taking part in the Band Aid 40 recording. However, it is expected that the lineup will include a mix of established and up-and-coming artists. The single is set to be released in November 2022.
