BREAKING: North Runway Closed at YVR Due to Aircraft Incident
Vancouver International Airport (YVR) has closed its North Runway due to an aircraft incident.
The incident occurred just after 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, when an Air Canada A330 aircraft experienced an engine issue during takeoff.
The aircraft was able to safely return to the airport and there were no injuries reported. However, the incident has caused significant damage to the runway, requiring it to be closed for repairs.
The closure of the North Runway is expected to cause significant delays and cancellations of flights.
Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for the latest information on their flights.
YVR is working to repair the runway as quickly as possible. However, it is not clear when the runway will reopen.
"We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused our passengers," said YVR spokesperson Robyn McVicker. "We are doing everything we can to minimize the impact of the closure and get the runway reopened as soon as possible."
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has been notified of the incident and is investigating.
