Bomb Found in Rüttenscheid Entertainment District
RLT Still Give All-Clear Before 11:00 a.m.
Yesterday, Wednesday, 22nd August 2023, the Essen Police Department received a call about a suspicious object found near Rüttenscheider Straße 94, in a public place. The police immediately cordoned off the area and called in the fire department to investigate. The fire department’s bomb disposal squad quickly identified the object as a bomb. The bomb was safely removed by the bomb disposal squad and taken away to be destroyed.
The police are still investigating the incident and have not yet released any information about who may have planted the bomb or why. However, they have said that there is no danger to the public.
Evacuations and Impacts
The bomb disposal squad was able to defuse the bomb before it could explode. However, the incident caused widespread disruption in the area. Several streets were closed to traffic, and several businesses were evacuated.
