Students Evacuated After Discovery Of Suspicious Item

Police in Giessen, Germany, evacuated a school on Thursday after a suspicious item was found in the schoolyard. The item was later identified as a World War II-era bomb, and a bomb disposal team was called in to safely remove it.
The school, which is located in the center of Giessen, was evacuated at around 11 a.m. after a caretaker discovered the suspicious item. Police were called to the scene, and they cordoned off the area.
A bomb disposal team from the Hessian State Police arrived at the scene at around 12:30 p.m. and began working to remove the bomb. The bomb was safely removed at around 2:30 p.m., and the school was reopened at around 3:00 p.m.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
