Las Vegas expansion team will announce Michael Andlauer as team president on Tuesday

The NHL's newest franchise, the Las Vegas expansion team, will announce Michael Andlauer as team president on Tuesday, according to commissioner Gary Bettman. Andlauer, who has been with the NHL for 15 years, most recently served as the league's executive vice president of business development and international affairs.

In his new role, Andlauer will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Las Vegas team, including business development, marketing, and sales. He will also work closely with the team's ownership group, led by Bill Foley, to develop and implement a long-term strategy for the franchise.

Bettman said Andlauer is the right person to lead the Las Vegas team to success.

"Michael is a proven leader with a wealth of experience in the sports industry," Bettman said. "He has a deep understanding of the business of hockey and a passion for the game. I am confident that he will be able to take what has been started in Las Vegas and take it to the next level."

Andlauer said he is excited to join the Las Vegas team and help build a successful franchise in the city.

Andlauer's appointment is the latest in a series of moves by the NHL to establish a strong presence in Las Vegas. The league has already announced that the city will host the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft and the 2018 NHL All-Star Game.

The Las Vegas team is scheduled to begin play in the 2017-18 season. The team will play its home games at the new T-Mobile Arena.
