Bayern stunner about injured Pavlovic
Pavlovic injured with Bayern
Bayern Munich's Serbian defender will probably miss the World Cup in his home country. Nikola Pavlovic suffered a serious knee injury in training on Tuesday, as the record champions announced on Wednesday. The 22-year-old twisted his right knee and tore the inner meniscus. The injury overshadows the start of the Bundesliga season for Julian Nagelsmann's team.
Nagelsmann is annoyed
Pavlovic is considered a candidate for the starting eleven in Munich. After the injury news, coach Nagelsmann was visibly annoyed. "That's very bitter. He played really well in the preparation, had a very good base fitness and trained very well," said the coach.
Pavlovic's World Cup participation in jeopardy
The defender has already been operated on successfully and will definitely miss the start of the season. In the worst case, Pavlovic could even miss the World Cup in Qatar from November 21st to December 18th. "We have to wait for the healing process. One can never say exactly how long it takes. But it will probably be a few weeks or months," said Nagelsmann.
Pavlovic hopes for the World Cup
Pavlovic himself is of course hoping to be there in Qatar. The central defender has played six international matches for Serbia so far and was part of the team that reached the finals at the 2022 World Cup. He is not the only Bayern player who is threatened with a World Cup. Captain Manuel Neuer could also miss the tournament due to a shoulder injury.
