Autobahn A28: Date set for demolition of bridge at Zwischenahner Meer junction
Demolition work on the marode bridge on the A28 at the Zwischenahner Meer junction is scheduled to begin on March 6th, 2023.
The Niedersächsische Landesbehörde für Straßenbau und Verkehr (Lower Saxony State Road and Traffic Authority) announced the date on Thursday. The A28 will be completely closed in both directions between the Zwischenahner Meer and Bad Zwischenahn junctions for the duration of the work.
The demolition of the bridge is necessary because it is in a poor condition and no longer meets current safety standards. The new bridge will be wider and have a longer span, which will improve traffic flow on the A28.
The demolition work is expected to take around four weeks. During this time, traffic will be diverted via the U33 and U34 federal highways.
The new bridge is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023.
